lazy blogger :: lucky friend

First of all thank you so much for all you sweet birthday wishes. I am trying to respond to each one personally but am behind in my email, big time.  It was the most special birthday to date and i am still on cloud nine. Please forgive me I am having a hard time getting back into the blogging groove. 

That is the lazy blogger part of this post.

The next part is the lucky friend part.  I have known Veronica of Petunia almost since I started blogging.  I have also been lucky enough to meet her in person.  I just about flipped my lid when I saw this polaroid pouch on her blog.  Look what I got in the mail the day before I left for my birthday trip to Portland.

Her and I both have a thing for photographing shoes. 

Thank you sweet Veronica for my thoughtful gift. 

I've already used it to hold sweet memories of my birthday weekend.

switching it up just a bit

I think I am going to switch it up a little more around here.  I love taking polaroids but have been inspired by all different types of color palettes lately . I'm going to go where I am being pulled.  That is what I'm thinking.

The photo above: my oldest and I got our nails done. She wanted green polish, I said why not. The next day I noticed how it matched her apple perfectly. Cool!

For some of the newer readers to my blog there really is a reason that my blog is called scissors.paper.glue.

One of my favorite art forms is collage. The one downfall of being a collage artist is that it doesn't lend itself to being spontaneous. It takes time for an idea to develop, to collect all of the bits and pieces for the project, then there is the actual collage process and of course the good ol' drying time. 

Lately when i get the collage bug, I tend to work small. Tiny art is what i call it. I use simple pieces of ephemera that inspire me. A fun short process. 

Which is where I am at right now.

Apparently Southern California has  decided to skip spring completely and  go straight into summer. We are looking at day #2 in the triple digits. hmmm. I'm unsure how I feel about this. You'll be the first to know.

These were so bright I spotted them on the side of the road while driving my son to school.

They were so bright it almost hurt to look at them.

When i take a picture with my polaroid camera i have an idea in my mind of how it should look.  So it may seem a little strange that even when my picture does not  turn out  i have a hard time throwing it away.  Sometimes when the picture doesn't turn out, it can be a happy accident.

Look what I got in the mail from my penpal.  All because of this.

The polaroid has an obvious flaw.  I like it because it is almost like the sun is shining down on my handmade flower.  Imperfection can be beautiful.

I've always liked this polaroid. I don't know why I've never posted it.  Maybe because the shoes are cuter in the picture than they are in person.  Hope you are having a happy Monday so far.
