polaroid collaboration :: march - abundant

It is time for jen of  painted fish studio and my monthly polaroid collaboration. This is the seventh in a series of  twelve. Jen and I alternate picking a word and on the last day of  month we share our polaroid interpretation of that word on our blogs.  This month the word I selected was abundant.  

Here is Jen's contribution.  I can't even put into words just how much I love this photo.

trying to be here

Before I left for Portland on Wednesday I had plans to scan a few interesting polaroids I had taken over the last week or so and then blog on the road.  Unfortunately for me, the electricity went out at my house, I guess there is a reason they put those notices on the doors weeks and weeks (and weeks) in advance.  So the polaroids were not scanned and I got on an airplane with wet hair. Worse things have happened but what I am getting at is, I am really enjoying my time here again.  This really is a nice place (at least I think so)  

So instead you get a polaroid of what I have been catching up on.

Sleep. Something that I don't get a whole bunch of and I'm sure the majority of you would like a little more of. I promise to have some fun new photos next week. I am  finally feeling my creative funk lifting. I think I may have Mr. Spring to thank for that.  Thank you Mr. Spring, thank you very much!

lately it is all about the flowers

What is your favorite flower?

the one where i really miss my digital camera but feel guilty saying it.

Polaroids. That's what i have been all about for, hmmm i guess it's been almost a year now.  I love my Polaroid camera. It has given me a quick way to be creative without having to tote around a bunch of supplies. (My other favorite art form is collage, don't even get me started) It has also given me the opportunity to be involved in an amazing collaboration and one really exciting project, so far.  I hope there will be more of these types of things in my future.  

Here is the thing though, both of my digital cameras are on the fritz.  It didn't really bother me until I received my mushrooms from the handmade mushrooms swap dear Sonya organized.  The detail of the mushrooms I got are amazing and I want to give credit where credit is due to the wonderful artist that made them. Of course I also need to load my pictures up on flickr.  So I pulled out my SX-70 (I left my go to 680 SLR in Portland) and began to shoot.  Not one shot came out.  I need my digital camera but please don't tell my Polaroid.

ps. If anyone is interested in doing some sort of polaroid collaboration with me please let me know. I've asked before but had no takers. Come on guys it will be fun!

I don't remember how i met Sandra of Bricolagelife. I think it was on flickr.  First I had been coveting this amazing print from her etsy shop. Then I was admiring these and contacted her about getting one. We have pretty much been friends ever since. She is one of my biggest polaroid cheerleaders, always leaving positive and encouraging comments.  I don't think she even knows how much those meant to me.  Then, I think it was me who asked her to be my penpal. She said yes and boy have I received some wonderful things in the mail. I have to say she has turned out to be  a far better penpal than i have been.  Her beautiful pictures provide endless inspiration and the content of her blog often makes me giddy Her creative energy seems to be endless.  My favorite thing she has been working lately on has been with daisies.  These picture are genius and then this project just about put me over the edge.  So here's to you penpal. A polaroid in your honor. Thank you for inspiring me on a daily basis.
