I found this at a place in our mall called Reference. I think they are owned by Forever 21. I couldn't resist this springy bag. I think I need to wear these when I carry it.

This is a page from an altered children's board book that I did for a call for creativity for Somerset Studio magazine a few years ago. The postcard was purchased from here. Kate specializes in vintage postcards. She had exactly what I was looking for when I was working on this project.
Speaking of artwork, have you been missing it from here? I have. My month of green was my way of rededicating myself to my blog. To challenge myself to post more often. I am having lots of fun with the green but must say I am missing seeing other colors here.
Has anyone else been wondering what is going on with the color challenge collages that I dedicated myself to back in January? Now that I have worked through my artist block and my kids are semi healthy I have several pieces on my table as we speak. I had planned to do a collage a month but you know how life is. I am still dedicated to the project so stay tuned.
Oh and Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Correspondence.
Definition: Communication by the exchange of letters.
but doesn't it really mean so much more than that? Especially here in the land of kind bloggers and swappers. People who start out as strangers and end up being friends. Whether we have met them face to face or not. I have to say since I started blogging I get something cool in the mail on almost a daily basis. I am so lucky to have friends that say hey do you want to swap a package of inspiring green stuff in honor of your month of green? Or hey I am sending you this because I thought of you when I saw it. Or I though maybe you could use this. Or my favorite "just because".
Of course it also happens in a virtual way now. Email. Rotten days can turn around because one of your favorite people wrote you an email and made you laugh. Or someone commented on your blog reassuring you that the creative block you are experiencing will pass. Or just simply "I love that".
not alone::understood::encouraged on a daily basis
because I opened my mailbox.

The spell has been broken. Maybe it was that few extra hours of sun from setting the clocks ahead, maybe it was having an extra day off this weekend or maybe it was getting to see my sweet niece. (who will be three weeks old this Wednesday) I went back into the studio yesterday and worked on quite a few projects. I felt productive and glad to be there. It was nice to finally feel that way again.
This weekend was a mix of driving the LA freeways and playing in the sunshine that graced us here in So Cal. We visited the renowned Reform School. Let me just say it is all it is cracked up to be. So many cool things. It is like a brick and mortar etsy shop. I purchased a few things and will show you the goods once I take some pics. Yesterday was spent at the beach with the little ones. They were so happy to be out in the sunshine digging and playing with water. Digging + water is huge entertainment for my kids. Joy in the little things. When exactly do we lose that?
See you tomorrow.

Regardless of how you felt about the movie Inconvenient Truth I think we are all starting to realize for the sake of our kids we need to modify how we are living. Almost every magazine I have purchased this month has some kind of focus on living more green or in an Eco-friendly manner. This has become a personal issue for me because I have two kids and I worry about the kind of world they will be living in.
I have made a small list of things you can do to contribute to a more healthy planet. I know it is hard to get out of our routines but sometimes switching things up can be fun.

You didn't think I could show a whole months worth of green pictures without showing some green shoes did you? One of my favorite pairs. When I wear these I feel like it's spring even if it is not.
Yellow and green are inspiring me lately. So are yellow and gray. Hmmm maybe some artwork to come. Happy Wednesday!

This is one of my VERY favorite green things. Just looking at him makes me happy. That sweet face, vintage fabric, amazing construction. I got this little bird last November at Studio Craft, in Portland. It was made by the lovely and talented Blair.
He sits in my studio where I can see him. Inspiring me everyday.
