summertime fun

Hi everyone. This picture pretty much sums up our first week of summer vacation together.  Crazy and fun.  We went and saw Kung Foo Panda. (too violent in my opinion) Went to Birch Aquarium. A haircut for the girl.  A trip to Toys R Us for the girl (she received a gift certificate for highest accelerated reader) Went to see Sex and the City (again) with a friend.  My company picnic at Crown Pointe.  A trip to LA to visit my favorite people and to see A Chorus Line.  Phew, I am tired just reading this. Meanwhile I am fighting a nasty summer cold.  Needless to say today is being spent in our pajamas at home.  See you tomorrow.

This was my photo for the May Nectar and Light photo trade:: Losing Focus:  Find beauty in the blur.  It was the first time I have ever participated in anything like this.  It took me forever to take a photo I thought was worthy. 

So today is the officially the first day of summer in our house.  I am going to try and make a conscious effort to make this a fun summer for all of us.  This doesn't include spending a ton of time at home in front of the computer.  However my blog is important to me so I will be trying to do post ahead of time. 

On the new camera front.  I think the new film did the trick although I haven't had much more than a minute to experiment.  I am hoping for more of that to come this week.  

Thanks for all your comments regarding the vintage photo in the last post.  Would anyone be up for a vintage photo swap?  Let me know and I will see if there is any interest.

Sorry for the random post but the kids are chomping at the bit to go do something.  I promised them we would.  Summer, here we come.

Hello, hello!  I am still here. Sorry to be so absent from this space as of late.  I have a ton on my plate swap and trade wise and got myself a little overwhelmed.  This is the reason I stopped doing swaps for a while. They are suppose to be fun not stressful.  So I think I will be taking a wee blog break to get things back in order. I will be back next week if not sooner.

Above is my little budding photographer.  He sees mommy with her camera all the time and so he wanted one too.  I thought it would be fun to see the world from his perspective.  I'll be sure to post the results.

You knew this was coming, a mother can't play favorites.  If my daughter is the old soul then my son is the new one.  Fresh from the turnip truck this one.   Playing  with abandon is on this one's agenda daily.  Not a care in the world.   I love him for his enthusiasm for life.  I love him for his curiosity for learning.  I love seeing things through his eyes.  Oh how i love this child!

I really enjoyed hearing what you all are up to this weekend.  Enjoy the rest of it!

old soul

Ask anyone who has met my seven year old daughter and they will tell you she has an old soul.  She is kind, nuturing, smart, confidant and very funny.   It would seem as though she has been here before as her  insight into life somehow surpasses her seven years on this planet.

my boy surprises me.

saved it for a rainy day

Since it has been fairly rainy in my part of the country, we have been staying inside quite a bit.  Needless to say, all you mamas out there know that means keeping the littles busy.  My four year old boy is just starting to take an interest in crafting with his big sis and myself and I couldn't be happier. These are a few things we have been working on.

These guys are the Hop-A-Long Gang:

Their legs make it easy for them to boogie down, but their tall stature make them awfully difficult to photograph.  I will be offering kits in the shop.

Next it was on to a Martha Stewart craft from the new (but they should really call it old)  Good Things for Kids magazine that  just hit newsstands.  Unfortunately, this has no new projects in it.  It is all just rehashed from the old Kids and Baby Magazines.  Bummer!  Anyhow we made crayon blocks and i had the best time taking pictures of our progress.
