Happy 4th of July everyone.  Have a wonderful, safe weekend!

slow going

Tiny art

This is a tiny collage i made for a patient friend.  We did a trade and i am a little slow in holding up my end of the deal.  Things feel slow around here in general.  I can't explain it since I have pretty much been late on every swap I have joined as of late.  Which is so unlike me...

I think I need to get out and take some pictures.  I haven't done that in quite a while.  I always feel full of energy after a great photo session and my computer full of new things to share here.  Maybe I'll put our plans today on hold and go take some pictures.   Good idea no?

:: Ahoy,  Captain ::

This is another collage I finished recently.  I have been trying to incorporate the anchor redwork into a piece of mine since I bought it at the greatest antique store EVER while in Portland for Studio Craft.  Nothing was working so I put it aside.  I pulled it back out again recently and began to play.   Then my little captain ended up laying on the redwork just like that and I thought to myself.  That's it!  The rest was easy.

That kind of thing  happen to me time and again, where the pieces just seem to find each other.

I love it.  Collage kismet!

Flashcard

diminutive:   of very small size; tiny

Hi everyone

I am so excited and proud to present my latest collection of art that is now up in my etsy shop.    The Diminutive Collection was born out of my passion for collecting and my love of  creating.  As a collage artist I am constantly trying to keep my work fresh.   I was fighting the urge to place beloved bits in my collages because it didn't seem like enough work.  Finally I gave in and I am so happy with the result.  I hope you like it too.

...and a happy new year!

Wow it all went by so fast.  I love the fresh start of a new year, and apparently so do quite a few other bloggers.  I actually like that it is chilly (remember i live in CA) and the sun is down by 5pm.  It makes me want to create, to snuggle and look at inspiring magazines.

october project :: day one

Here is something that i created sort of recently.  This piece really says what i want to say about the new year.  I want to make it vibrant!  I want to live in technicolor!  I hope you'll join me.

Sorry to tease you all there about the blog being back in full force.  I took some time to go visit my family and to mourn the loss of a dear family friend.  Although it was a sad time, i also got to spend time with my family which is alway fun.  My mom gave me the "day off" so i took off to Santa Barbara and had a day of fun which for me means shopping.  Thanks again for that mom, i am feeling refreshed and inspired.

My family is also very creative so i always want to work on projects around them and when i get home.  Since i have devoted my summer to learning to sew, i have been ignoring my paper and i think it is mad at me.  i tried to make a few collages last week before i left but nothing came to me.  While at my mom's i had some really vivid dreams (i never remember my dreams) and have some new inspiration to start a new collage project.

All in all the time away from home was good for me.

Where is spring already?

Maryann_silloutte

hi *sigh*  i haven't felt like posting.  Spring has not quite sprung here and the weather is playing a really mean game of back and forth.  Taking a decent picture has become close to impossible.

On a brighter note, i have been busy working on some new things.  New things to me.  i have a problem. It's called being a perfectionist.  I often will not try something in the fear that i won't be able to do it or it won't turn out how it is suppose to.  Anyone else do this??? I thought it was high time i got over myself and tried some of the things that have been laying around here.  Button making +  some felting + an attempt at a sewing project.  So far i have been having a blast.  I also made some of the embroidery hoop fabric swatches that are becoming spring's button wreath.  I am also working on some REALLY cute things for the shop.  I hope you all like them as much as i do.

I am leaving today for a three day seminar.  about carpet.  yeah my day job.  try not to be jealous.  So on one hand I am excited to have a little break.  On the other hand, I hate being away from my family.  See you in a couple of days.
