30 Day Macro Challenge final day/orange

How appropriate that the last day of the Macro photo challenge coincides with orange in color week.  It was  a little orange flower that got us all started on this macro love now wasn't it.  Thank you Karin for making our blogs really beautiful this month and for making me look at my camera in a whole new light.

On to the pics

#28      30 Macro Photo Challenge + color week -Monday = green

Sorry for the late post.  I am still in birthday vacation mode over here.  my sister just left today.

So there is only 2 more days of the macro photo challenge left and i am definitely sad to say good bye.  I had not realized I liked blog assignments so much.  Today I saw this and i think i will join in because it will help keep the flow going here and i am always a big fan of color week whenever it happens in blogland.  Participate if you'd like.

On a completely random note:   Have you seen the previews for Speed Racer on tv?  It looks a little goofy and way too high tech for me.  It makes me a little sad as I loved that cartoon as a kid.  I wonder if the lips won't match the words in the movie too.  Only someone my age will know what i am talking about.

Happy Monday Friends!

#24            30 Day Macro Photo Challenge

Over the last few days I have been reading my blog.  Funny how that sounds, but it is a weblog of my life.  It was really fun to go back and read all my posts.  I even visited the "old" blog, yes for some of you newer readers I had a blog on blogger  but switch to typepad because of all it's wonderful extras.  I digress.  It was amazing to reread all of the comments left over the last two years.  Even more amazing to see were the comments of reader who I now consider friends.  I got a kick out of just how long I have "known" some of you.   You all didn't know it but the last two years have been very hard for me personally.  It was  difficult to read the posts where i was struggling, with life and with creativity.  Yet as I wrote those posts, you still showed up and read. Everyday.  I am so thankful for that.  Because of this blog I have so many things:  a cheerleader/confidante in Minnesota, an angel in Ohio, comic relief and someone to lean on in the Bay area, a partner in crime in Nevada  and understanding in Georgia and Kansas. And so much more.  The thing I find unbelievable is that people are still reading and I am still making new friends.  I have to be the luckiest girl in the world.  Thank you, to each and everyone one of you who takes the time out of your day to come visit me here .     Your encouragement, thoughtful advice, smart ideas and funny stories, I treasure each one.

#22           30 day macro photo challenge

I wish we had solar panels to power our home.  I wish I had a hybrid car.  In the meantime though my family and I are making progress.  I have been able to make good on a promise I made to myself in january 2007.  That promise was to live better: eating organic foods and less processed foods.  To tread more softly on this beautiful planet.  We are doing our best to recycle, buy less, use items with less packaging, use CFL bulbs in our house, turn things off when we are not using them.

I giggled the other day when the kids asked me why there were plastic baggies hanging from the utencils in the untencil holder in the kitchen.  I told them, "I washed them out and am reusing them."  I also have gotten into the habit of bringing a bottle or glass drink container home after eating out and throwing it into my recycle bin at home if i see the restaurant doesn't recycle .  A woman behind me in line at the market said she was inspired by me because I wasn't using plastic bags for my produce (you have to wash it anyway)

It's the little things, they add up.

How easy it has been to change mine and my families habits, to adjust to this better life.   I only wish more would do the same.

Happy Earth Day!

Oh and apparently we only got four minutes to save the world.  Both of my kids LOVE this song, i don't really blame them.

#21            30 day macro photo challenge

Wow do I ever have the travel bug lately.  The warm weather has me thinking about visiting all sorts of places; Paris, Venice, New York,  San Francisco and Minnesota.   Especially Minnesota!

Right now flying to Paris is NOT an option but the one thing I would like to do that is feasible  (financially and time wise) at this point in time is take a blogging trip.  To drive up the coast and visit friends like Toni for the crochet lesson she promised me.  Like Vallen to go flea marketing together.  To visit Jackie, share a bottle of wine and some conversation.  To visit Sonya so she can show me how the professionals thrift. To meet Jessica, a fairly new blogger friend who has some keen shopping skills.

This trip would also help me further along a secret project i have been working on.

Rumor has it writing things down is a good way to achieve your goals.  Now if only gas prices would go down.
