summer is creeping in

First_day_walk

I am having a hard time believing that this little girl is two weeks away from finishing kidergarten.  Who knew that the end of the school year was such a busy time for all involved.  Sorry to have been so absent here but May was a month full of places to go and people to see.  Family time, weddings, birthdays and new work projects.  As we roll into June I plan on being here and being home much more.

If you are interested in a summer swap go here.

My favorite things: NYC

Cosmo_hotel

All of this talk about the National Stationery Show and this blogger's recent visit to NYC has me wishing I had the time and the money to go back and visit (read:shop)

My life and interests have changes so much since i last visited in 2003.  Back then I was a stay at home mom with a 2 year old and another baby on the way.  I was knee deep in making custom stationery and greeting cards.  The reason for my visit was to accompany my little sis to the Stationery Show.  It was her first time there and I was so proud of her and maybe a little envious.  However like Sally wrote about in her post today, the timing for me wasn't right.  It was my sister's turn to shine and she had great success.

Fast forward to today.  I am working full time, raising two amazing kids and interested in collage, Japanese craft books and learning to sew and crochet (right Toni?)  I still love shopping and exploring one of the most exciting cities in the world.  Maybe next year, any takers?

gift from a sparrow

P1010096_1

Poor neglected blog.  Hi everyone!  How are you?  I will be glad when this week is over.  Above is the adorable needlebook that Toni made me quite some time ago.  I love it, the colors and construction make me smile.  It is in my purse right now begging to be used.  Not to much crafting going on over here.  Of course not by choice, I haven't lost my mojo again I just can't seem to find the time.  I hate that.  I will be spending about 10 hours in the car this weekend.  Anyone have any little portable craft ideas?  I have some ideas of my own but you all are such a creative bunch i would love to hear what you have to say.

Happy Thursday to you all.  I have missed this place.

unravel your senses

P1010244

This was my 5 senses swap from Sonya.  The theme was unravel your senses.  Pure genius!  She wrapped all the items in the most darling blue and white polka dot crepe paper streamers.  The actual unwrapping of the goodies seemed to take forever, anticipation at it's finest.  When i finally got everything unwrapped, I had a wonderful pile of polka dots and more presents to unwrap.  See below:

Bird paper with birdcages, I think this girl is on to me.

The first package I opened was sight.

Sight

A brilliantly felted eye.  homemade = making my heart skip a beat.  Such a creative take on sight.

Next we had scent.

Smell

Again, I think this girl is on to me.  Lavender has to be my favorite scent as far as grooming.  A soap from a company in San Francisco where Mrs. KnitSonya resides.

Next we have hear:

Hear

An amazing antique vintage bird toy that clicks and clacks as the birds go back and forth.  I am not worthy, what a treasure.

On to touch:

Touch

100% hemp knit and crocheted wash cloth. So very soft.  I'm not sure if I can use this as a wash cloth, I may have to carry it around like a security blanket.  Just call me Linus.  Do you see that hand Milagros that she put around it.  Love those details.

Lastly we have taste:

Taste

Seriously the most delicious truffles (made in San Francisco) I have ever tasted.  I know because you can tell from this picture that one is missing, can't you.  Yep, as soon as I opened it.  Mmmmmm!  Thank you so much Sonya for your wonderful swap package.  I love everything so much.  You creativity and attention to detail was so much fun to unravel.

One more pic for my ladies, a hint of things to come from your fearless (?) swap leader.  Thank you soo much for playing.

smell:my son's hair after a bath::French General Lavender laundry powder::jasmine or honeysuckle after the morning dew::gardenias

hear:an old song from my past::the pitter patter of small feet::laughter

The above ATC's were made by the uber-talented Kristin.  The are more amazing in person.  Thank you Kristin, they are one of my favorite things to look at.

finally

P1010218

a picture of my scrumptious niece LUCY.  she is just the sweetest baby and i get to see her this weekend.  the competition will be tough as we will be around lots of people who have not met her yet.  i don't think my excuse of "i haven't seen her for a while" is going to hold much weight.

stash

Hooray! A new week, a new post and new stuff for the shop.

P1010234_2

Have you ever been in someone's studio/craft room and wished you could go shopping?  I certainly have.  I also get that a lot when people come over to my house.  They just want to be in my studio.  There are LOTS of fun things to look at and play with in there.

So on that note I got an idea.  What if I put together boxes of inspiration?  I immediately went to work and the above is what I came up with.  I started with a color theme and went from there.  Voila!  Red and Gray and Yellow and Green boxes of inspiration in the shop NOW!

P1010239_2

I would love to know what you guys think.  Are there any certain colors you would like to see be made into a box?  How about a jumbo size?  I even stayed green by recycling egg cartons and cuteifying them.  (yes that is a word) hehe!
