Hello there! How was your week?  I have returned from the beach with sun kissed cheeks, (even though i slathered on sunscreen) several mosquito bites, lots of laundry to do, and much more relaxed than i was this time last week.

I also managed to finish a book and start another.I finished Bright Side of Disaster by Katherine Center recommended by my east coast buddy Mary.  I really liked it, it was just what I was looking for.  Next up is Sitting Practice by Caroline Adderson.  After that I have a nice nice stack of books to continue my summer of reading.  It was really funny when I went to Barnes and Noble with my blogger friends recommended reading list, the man at the information desk was kinda freaking out at all the wonderful suggestions.  He kept saying, "This is such a great list."   So thanks again for all of your great input.

Ok that is it for now.  I had a VERY LARGE iced vanilla latte this afternoon and I need to try to get some sleep.  I have to work tomorrow.  Back to the real world, darn.

Hello friends.  I am off to the beach for a few days with the family.  I really thought that I would be able to get a few post ready before I went but I just ran out of time.  I am unsure whether or not I will have internet access while I am away.  Have a safe few days.  I'll be back.  Thursday.

wednesday's macro

 Bear with me as I get back into the swing of things.  The ONLY good news about layoffs is that I am definitely busier at work.   I have been meaning to say how happy I am that this chiquita is blogging again.  I have missed her voice.  Speaking of voices, I have just recently switched to google reader instead of clicking on my favorite blog individually.  I am not sure I like it.  I mean, yeah I have all my favorite reads at my fingertips but I find myself not commenting at all.  That feels wrong somehow.  For me part of the beauty of blogging is the interaction. What is your take on bloglines, google reader etc?

what i learned

:: what i learned at my 20 year reunion ::

• that i am a damn good judge of character. even back then.
• that the nice ones are still nice and the mean ones are still mean.
• that some guys look better bald or balding than with 80's style hair.
• that some girls haven't changed their hair since the 80's.
• that i need to pull my echo and the bunnymen and INXS cd's out for another listen.
• that it was definitely worth going to but i don't need to go to another one.
• that the only thing i miss about high school is driving in my car with my favorite song on the radio with a heart full and pure and a mind free of cynicism believing that this is just the beginning and it is going to be good.

Where is Jen?  I have been running around trying to get ready for my 20 year high school reunion. It is this Saturday night.  Ekkk!  Getting my haircut and colored.  Getting a facial and my eyebrows waxed. Trying to decide what to wear. It's funny, I thought to myself tonight what am I so worried about.  Why does looking good matter so much to me?  Why am I worried about the impression I give? I have a wonderful job, a hubby and two adorable kids.  Does what these people might think of me really affect my world?  Hmmm good questions.  I'll let you know the answers when I get home.  Have a great weekend!

Our day trip to the beach was wonderful.  Unfortunately yesterday it was back to a harsh reality of more layoffs at work.  I wasn't let go but am having some serious survivor guilt.

Hello everyone.  How is your Wednesday going?  I have a favor to ask all of you.  I am going to the beach for vacation in a a few weeks and I am in desperate need of some good reads.  I think some easy reading would be best, no historical novels please.  I like stories about dysfunctional families, thrillers like Lovely Bones and of course Chick Lit, just nothing that is too cheesy.  Can you help me??
